Blockchain certification

authenticity certificate Blockchain certification is the protection of your ideas, designs, concepts, and any original files. You fix the moment of creation by receiving proof of existence on the blockchain. This is important for working with clients, launching projects, resolving disputes, and proving priority.

Intellectual Property Protection via Blockchain Timestamping

If you create logos, ideas, concepts, strategies, UX designs, diagrams, or any creative file, it's worth protecting. We offer a simple and independent way to prove that a file existed on a specific date — using the Bitcoin blockchain timestamp technology.

FAQ: Blockchain Certification of Intellectual Works

Why does a timestamp matter for a company, designer or startup?

Timestamp allows you to protect your idea or creative work without publishing it. You register a digital fingerprint of the file in the blockchain, which becomes proof of your authorship. Blockchain certification proves that you created a specific idea, file, or concept — and did so before anyone else. No one will be able to claim that you "stole" someone else's idea or forged the date.

  • Proof of priority — you can show that you had the idea or design before anyone else;
  • Protection against dishonest clients — you prove that you sent the concept first;
  • Legal validity — the data can be used as evidence in court;
  • Security — the actual content remains private, only the hash is stored;
  • Verifiability — anyone can confirm authenticity using the .ots file.

You are not required to disclose the content — only the file hash. This means your idea or logo remains private, yet proof of its existence is permanently recorded in Bitcoin. This is not a patent or copyright registration, but a timestamp gives you a legally robust time marker in the decentralized Bitcoin ledger.

Use cases for timestamping.

  • Designer timestamps a logo file before presenting it to a client — proving ownership of the original idea.
  • Developer saves a UX concept or database structure before starting a project with partners.
  • Marketer secures a strategy or slogan before meeting with a client.
  • Inventor timestamps an idea description, technical drawing, or diagram.
  • Copywriter timestamps a draft article or ad campaign before publication.
  • Artist stores a PDF document containing artwork images and metadata. The service is available at Gostev's
  • Writer timestamps a book manuscript — protecting both the concept and phrasing from copying.

Example of logo certification on the blockchain.

Verification is done using two files: the original root file (e.g., .pdf or .jpg) and the linked proof file .ots. These files allow reliable confirmation that the work existed at the time of blockchain recording via cryptographic Merkle proof, embedded into the Bitcoin block structure.

What is a timestamp?

Timestamp is a record of a digital fingerprint (SHA256 hash) of a file in the Bitcoin blockchain. The hash is generated based on your file (e.g., .jpg, .pdf, .docx, .zip) and stored in a block via Merkle proof. You can prove that this exact file existed on the specified date, without revealing its contents.

What is an SHA256 hash?

It is a digital fingerprint of a file. If you change even a single pixel or character in a PDF file, the hash will completely change. By comparing your file's hash with the data in the proof file (.ots), you can prove that this exact file existed on the specified date and was recorded in the Bitcoin blockchain. The hash itself is not stored directly, but its inclusion is verified via a Merkle proof.

What is an .OTS file?

A file with the .ots extension is proof that your file's hash was submitted to the blockchain. It does not contain the actual file — only a cryptographic proof that such a hash existed on the specified date.

How to verify authenticity?

Anyone can verify the authenticity of the certificate and confirm the existence of the original file on the specified date by following these steps:

  • Download the original root file and the corresponding .ots file
  • Visit any verified service that supports OpenTimestamps
  • Upload both files and receive automatic verification

The verification will confirm that your file's hash has been anchored in the Bitcoin blockchain via a Merkle proof. The result will show the block, exact date, and confirmation status: Confirmed.

How Certification Works with FABER VISUM

We offer PDF certificate generation, .ots file creation, blockchain registration on Bitcoin, and all necessary materials for verification. The service costs 200 EUR or 0.1 ETH — that’s cheaper than running around outdated institutions. We provide creators with a convenient and transparent way to certify intellectual property.

Protocol:

  • You send us the original file;
  • We create a root PDF certificate;
  • We generate its hash and timestamp proof (.ots);
  • The hash is recorded into the Bitcoin blockchain;

You receive:

  • A root PDF certificate with a unique hash signature and your work details;
  • A .ots verification file;
  • An authenticity certificate showing blockchain records and a QR code for verification;

Certification Time

Typically, certificate creation and blockchain recording will not exceed 24 hours. We guarantee certificate creation and blockchain registration within 48 hours.

Useful Bonuses:

  • Possibility to host your certificate on our server;
  • Possibility to create a landing page based on your COA certificate;
  • Possibility to create a protected certificate page;
